Abstract
The article presents literary data on methods of assessing the degree of comorbidity in surgical diseases, emphasizes that at the moment the definition as a whole and the characteristic of comorbidity, its structure and species are nearing completion. There is a basic theory of its development. Various experts present evidence of the existence of comorbidity based on the clinic and materials of large pathologic studies. The concept itself is part of clinical practice, gradually removing the harmful and unnecessary in scientific practice. However, the characteristic of this concept in surgical patients is still not sufficiently studied and is in the initial stage of formation. Still, the perception of the effect of concomitant diseases on the main - surgical is considered as a syndrome of mutual burden without taking into account the commonality of pathogenetic foundations. This conflicts with the development of clinical thinking of a modern surgeon, who has added to himself the achievements of minimally invasive and IT-technologies.
Keywords: comorbidity, surgical diseases, severity estimates.
